The Fed’s Senior Officer Loans Survey the highlight
of the U.S. on Monday. Canadian markets will be paying attention to the
releases of housing starts and new house price index. In
the evening, the focus will turn to the UK’s house price balance and the
British Retail Consortium’s retail sales monitor.
Canadians Top List of Foreign Buyers of U.S. Property, NAR Says
Canadians are flocking to snatch up property in the
U.S. as a result of affordable house prices and attractive exchange
rates, the National Association of Realtors says.
Since May 2007, NAR estimates that between 150,000 and 190,000 homes
in the U.S. were bought by foreign nationals.
Tuesday’s Events: U.S. Consumer Confidence, S&P/CS House Prices
Consumer confidence for July and the S&P/Case-
Shiller’s home price index for May will be the main focus of
Tuesday’s economic events with no major macroeconomic releases expected
for Canada. Across the Atlantic, market participants will also be looking
out for preliminary results of German CPI for July.
